This paper examines "Tying Nashville Together" (TNT), the IAF affiliate in Nashville, Tennessee. It describes the impetus for forming the organization, and details the process that is typical of IAF organizations (drawing on religious congregations as the base of support, developing a multi-faceted agenda).
In addition, it applies 20th century theory on the role of religion
in society to the IAF's use of religion in its organizing. Byrd proposes
possible problems that may arise as a result of the "functional"
approach to religion adopted by the IAF.
Byrd draws on Fisher's ideas in the above paper.
